California
Hello! My name is Ashley Furman. I’m born and raised in Southern California and currently live in the San Fernando Valley. I graduated from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in 2017 as a double major and received my B.A. degree in Deaf Studies and B.A. degree in Psychology. Initially, I wanted to go into the field of social work/therapy for Deaf community members but as a language nerd, I ended up falling in love with the world of interpreting much more. From 2017-2018, I gained extensive training at Pierce College’s Interpreter Training Program where I received my A.A. degree in American Sign Language/Interpreting. I have a wide array of experience from K-12 internship opportunities along with professional work settings that include: religious services, postsecondary education, medical settings, entertainment, political events, VRI/VRS, and government organizations. I am also a trilingual interpreter and have worked in several Spanish-ASL community gatherings as well. In my spare time I love to salsa dance, paint, cook, and learn more about my Salvadoran culture.
I’m happy to be a part of the Vancro team and look forward to meeting you.
